Our Club's Installation/Outstallation Ceremony takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at the new Pizzo’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar, 2040 Birch Road, #103, Chula Vista, CA 91915. See flyer at left for details. The event is free to members; guests are $50 per person.

The event is held annually to swear-in our new Club President and Club Officers for the 2021-22 Rotary year. It is also an opportunity to give thanks to our “outgoing” president and board, i.e. the “Outstallation” of officers. Together with our guests, we celebrate our club accomplishments during what we can all attest was an especially challenging period. Yet, we came through that period even stronger. Now, we are primed to reach new heights and accomplish great things. The new board was selected by the members of the Club to guide its affairs during the coming year. Together, ALL members have shown what "Service Above Self" means to our community and the world. Each of you make a difference individually. And as #PeopleOfAction, we make an even greater difference working together collectively for the greater good.

Red, White, and Blue BBQ Connects Community

Who doesn’t love a barbecue? Join us as the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake hosts a Red, White and Blue BBQ on Saturday, July 3. The inaugural event helps connect our community—and foster youth and their families. As you may know, foster families provide safe, stable and healing home environments for abused and neglected children. Chula Vista Elementary School District Social Workers have been able to outreach to more than 30 participants for the first in-person event for foster families in well over a year.

Helping the Most Vulnerable: Abandoned Seniors in La Rumorosa, Mex.
A bumpy, dusty rock-laden dirt road winds its way to a ranch-style building that is in a perpetual state of need. It serves as home to about 35 mostly senior men who are in desperate need of some attention themselves. Members of the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake (Ca.) arose early on Saturday morning last December. They donned their face coverings, and made the trek by car to Casa Para Pobres Desamparados. This ramshackle home for abandoned seniors in La Rumorosa, Mex., is located about 40 minutes east of Tecate, Mex.--about two hours from San Diego County. On this day, the Rotarians took donations of food, blankets, adult diapers and clothing to the center.

Rotarians from Chula Vista Eastlake installed an electric water heater at home for abandoned seniors. When the Chula Vista Eastlake Rotarians arrived, Hernandez was struck by the conditions. There were seniors who needed urgent medical care, attended to by an overwhelmed “staff” of four volunteers. The center had no hot water, and badly needed facility maintenance. Hernandez wasn’t sure where to start. He asked “Hermano Pablo,” the caring soul who runs the center with the help of his wife and some relatives, what they really needed. It was clear to Hernandez that the donated clothing and food were temporary fixes. The seniors home needed more than a figurative 'band-aid.'
