Congratulations to our newest members Mara Gabino Alejo and Miriam Gonzalez. Both were officially pinned and welcomed by Rotary District 5340 Governor Chuck Pretto (photo one) at his recent visit to our club. In addition, Sabrina Monaco and her father were honored with Rotary's Paul Harris awards, recognizing generous contributions to The Rotary Foundation. A special thanks go out to our meeting host Lourdes Valdez (bottom photo), whose beautiful home made for a fantastic venue. It was a beautiful evening and our club is so pleased to welcome Mara and Miriam to the family of Rotary and our local club. They will help us make a difference in our community--and the world!

The Rotary International Convention is our biggest event of the year. Rotary members from more than 130 countries meet at the convention each year to celebrate our successes and make plans for the future. Rotary Fellowships give members the chance to join a group of people who share similar interests, hobbies, or vocations. Some groups use their fellowship to make a positive difference. The Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake's Haunted Harbor Cruise will be a Thriller. You'll receive a light meal, beverages, and scary delights aboard the schooner "Bill Of Frights." You'll depart this realm from the Chula Vista Marina and have a frightfully good time enjoying the breezy outdoors on San Diego Bay. Costumes are highly encouraged or you'll be walking the plank. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes!

We are back on the trails! Join the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake for our upcoming hikes for fun times, fellowship, and great memories! We can't say enough what a hidden treat McGinty Mountain Trail in Jamul turned out to be, which was our most recent hike on October 1. We highly encourage you to explore this 4.5-mile out-and-back trail. This one’s steep! But the views are well worth the climb. Contact us for more information at RotaryClubEastlake@gmail.com .
Our August membership social was tea-rific! We held a Mad Hatter Tea-quila Party at the Queen’s Court. This way, that way, “Off with his head!” It was a colorful cast of characters comprising members, prospective members, and guests of the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake. For our neighboring Rotary clubs, we recommend Mad Hatter Theme parties as a fun way to recruit new members and engage with current members.
